Falling Behind? What Are My Options?

Sometimes, getting started on a new course can be a challenge, especially when juggling studying with a challenging career and family life.

Firstly, please don't panic. We are here to help and support you, ensuring that you get the most out of this opportunity to further your career with postgraduate study.

If you are in module 1 of your Postgraduate Diploma and you encounter any difficulties with navigating your course or lack of confidence in participating online and you want further guidance, aside from what is provided in our Study Skills module, please book a call.  We are ready and waiting to sit and talk with you on a one-to-one basis to help you to familiarise yourself with navigating the Moodle platform and get you acquainted with your Tutors and peers.  

We hope to get you confidently participating and are happy to spend our time giving you the skills to do so.

If you are experiencing difficulties and you have missed work and deadlines and are wondering what your options might be, we have a specified 'Engagement Officer' who will work with you to find a way forward.

Q. An unforeseen work schedule prevented me from going online to look at my course for a few weeks and now there seems to be too much to catch up with.  

A. In this case, an extension can be put in place, so that rather than playing catch-up and effectively working twice as hard, you can revisit those weeks after the module has ended.  We are also happy to sit and give guidance on where to best focus your attention to get the best results.

Q. A family member has been unwell and I have had to travel to take care of them so I don't have access to the internet.

A. In this scenario it might be an option to apply for a non-submission for the missed module and then rejoin your course at the beginning of the next module, allowing a month or two to prioritise caring for your relative.

Q. The course is too intensive I don't have the time.

A. Postgraduate studies can seem overwhelming, especially with other commitments such as work and childcare.  In this case, talking through what components are the most important for your grades so that you can better prioritise and manage your time can make completing your diploma achievable.
