Why Become a Student Representative?

We continually review our programmes and develop new ones - as a student, you have valuable insight. 

Feedback shapes our courses and how they are run.  Becoming a Student Representative is your opportunity to experience first-hand how feedback is listened to and responded to. 

Becoming a Student Rep is a fantastic opportunity to get your voice heard. You can collate and summarise concerns and feedback from others on your course to put forward to senior management at Diploma MSc to effect real change and development. 

What is Expected of Me in the Role?

Student Representatives will be expected to represent their peers' views on academic issues affecting their studies, as well as the wider student experience. They must act as the link between students and academic staff at a programme level; ensuring that the student body’s voice is being heard and positive changes are being made.

What are the Steps to Becoming a Student Rep?

We begin recruiting Student Reps during the first two modules of a new cohort. In the event that we receive multiple applications, we will hold an election on our Moodle platform. In the week before the election, we will collect information from our candidates and share this with your peers on the programme. At the end of the week, we will hold a vote and the successful candidate will be elected as the Student Rep.

Once we have confirmation of our Student Rep Team, we will be in touch to arrange and subsequently hold our initial meeting. This will be a meeting attended by all reps and the Student Services Team. Here we will discuss the upcoming events and how the meetings will take place and provide further training. We usually meet every 4 - 6 weeks informally and we will also arrange formal Academic Boards with the Senior Academic Team. For these meetings, you will be required to be present in the Social Forums of your programme in order to represent the views of your peers at these meetings. 

You will added into the Student Hub Social Forum, where you can discuss various points with the entire Student Rep team.
